What areas do you cover?
We are based around Bishop’s Stortford and cover the local area.This may include nearby towns and villages depending on availability.
Do I need to pay in advance?
Yes.Your booking is only confirmed once payment has been received.This locks in your crates and dates.
What size are the crates?
Each crate is approximately:710mm x 460mm x 368mmThey are 80-litre crates, ideal for household moves, flat moves, decluttering, and packing room by room.
How long is the hire period?
Our standard hire period is 2 weeks.This gives you time to pack before moving day and unpack at the other end.
Do you deliver and collect?
Yes.We deliver the crates to your door and collect them when you’re finished.Usually, we deliver before your move and collect from your new address after your move.
What days do you deliver and collect?
Our main delivery and collection day is Sunday.We usually collect returns in the morning, clean the crates, then deliver new bookings later that day.
Can I extend my hire period?
Usually, no.Because crates are booked for other customers after your hire period, extensions are not guaranteed.Please only book if you are confident the 2-week hire period works for your move.
Can I hire fewer than 20 crates?
No.The minimum hire is 20 crates.
Do the crates need to be cleaned before collection?
No need to deep clean them.Please just make sure they are:Empty
Dry
Free from food, liquids, or loose items
Ready for collection at the agreed time
Can I use them for storage?
StortBox is designed for short-term moving and packing.We do not currently offer long-term storage hire.
Are the crates suitable for heavy items?
Yes, but please pack sensibly.For heavy items like books, tools, kitchen items, or files, spread the weight across several crates rather than overloading one box.
